Forgive Yourself and Start Fresh

Lesson 18: Spiritual Surrender to your life’s destiny
I used to hate the concept of ‘spiritual surrender’, because I was a fighter by nature, and it seemed to imply that a battle has been lost…and who likes to be a loser?
Indeed, it’s true that the ego experiences many life-and-death battles as it attempts to assert itself, with all of its fears, attachments, and desire for control.
The ego has to give up, and surrender to destiny, if we are going to know our deeper self, and live from the higher consciousness of love and freedom in all of our various life situations.
Then I learned a new word for spiritual surrender, rooted in the ancient spiritual language of Sanskrit:
“to take refuge within”.
It means that we seek the shelter of the Higher Self, turning to it for solace, guidance, safety, and the meeting of our every need.
